Description
This 30" rosewood veneer OOG case is near perfect. No veneer repairs or problems which is extremely unusual for this type case with the curves in and out on the doors and case sides. White label inside is practically all there, glasses are good and with the original, signed and painted zinc dial and would compare most to those clocks C. 1881. The old dial is signed in two places. The bottom tablet is losing the black paint around the borders, but could be taken care of very easily with black paint. The two very large iron weights may well be replacements, pendulum is period. Note the unusual grain designs on the front and the striping on the case sides. The weight cords should be replaced or at least checked and the weights are so heavy you don't want to move the clock with the weights inside. These old cases are only held together with old nails and they will pull out with that extra weight. Ly-Waterbury, page 396.
