Description

Excellent label says, "Movement made by H. Welton, finished and sold by M. Blakesley & Co. at the old stand of Eli Terry, Jr. & Co. Terrysville, Conn." Blakeslee was only in business for 2 years. This is a mahogany veneered case with rounded front edges or columns. Very similar to the OG clocks being made during this time with a 30 hour brass movement seat board mounted, 2 weights descending down the sides. Very nice full backboard label, top glass original, bottom replaced, and again good veneer all around. The wood dial is excellent considering the age, key lock door. Period iron weights, correct pendulum. Reference; Ken Roberts & Snowden Taylor's book, Connecticut Shelf Clocks, Second Edition Revised, pages 334-335 in particular.
