Description

It is an ordinary London produced timepiece with a fretted dial, C. 1860. Unsigned, as are the majority of skeleton clocks. The brass clock, without dome, stands 13" on the base. Base is mahogany veneer, covered with an aging velvet material. Three round feet underneath. The 8 day fusee movement is supported on 4 brass pillars. The simple construction gives an unhindered view of the whole mechanism, which contributes to the popularity of the Skelton Clocks. The clock with glass dome in place stands 17.5". Unfortunately the dome is cracked near the base. It is serviceable but the clock would show better with an unbroken dome.
