Description

The old case has the original finish, good carvings in a leaf motif, but not overly decorated, carvings in very good condition. Bone hands are a match but the minute hand has darkened. Numerals are replacements. Large 8 day brass spring and fusee movement, see separate picture. Plates are pinned and rough, like cut with a saw. Old wood bird is mounted on wood. Both of these things date the clock around 1865-1880. The clock cooks on half hours and hours, strikes on a back mounted coil gong, and is running. The old pendulum looks to be original. There are bone grommets in the winding holes. This is a very nice early cuckoo.
