Description
I have always thought this clock was a Kroeber, but I can't prove it. The movement is the typical Swiss pinwheel, 8 day, time only, one brass weight, lyre gridiron pendulum with oval brass and steel rods, large brass ball. The movement is of the best quality, dead beat pin escapement, sweep second, retaining power, and like all pinwheel movements, once in beat they will run indefinitely unless abused. Excellent 12" porcelain dial surrounded by a large brass ring. The movement is enclosed in an iron box which is attached to two metal brackets. The old walnut case is 78" high, topped by an elaborately carved top piece. There are 2 lion's heads and a wood ornament. The gold and black painted "REGULATOR" on the glass may be a later addition. There is no base on this clock, but there are 4 holes that would indicate it had a base, or, I would prefer to think it has always been a hanging clock since it has been hanging in my sunroom for some time.
