Description

In 1859 Seth Thomas purchased from Silas B. Terry the patterns and machinery for making wall regulator clocks. The movement in this clock is the same movement Seth Thomas used in his early wall regulators. It is 8 day, flat weight, and time only. The weight is not original but is very similar to the original. The slanted base was about the only difference in the cases. Seth kept the painted glass, the sliding partition with a label attached, and the flat weight that descended down the middle of the case. This 33" rosewood case is very good considering the age of the clock. Dial has been repainted, and has extra holes. Bubba tried to get the weight out of the case and failed, so he just cut a hole in the bottom of the sliding partition so he could reach his hand in, unhook the weight, and pull it out. What a guy. The black and gold glass may well be original, but at least has been rebacked. This is not a bad example of a rare and early wall weight clock.
