Description

Case is identical to the one we sold in our July 2002 auction; clock No. 62 that sold for $4, 250. It is identified in the NewHaven catalogs as "No. 3043". Like the July 2002 clock, this case isall original, has never been cleaned or refinished. Mahogany case is 42 incheshigh, very plain as they all were, signed on the dial and beat scale. Thereis an old paper label inside the case that has fallen off and needs to besalvaged. The 12 inch dial is wonderful for its age. Movement is 8 day, timeonly, running. Sauers also put their advertising glasses in Gilbert cases. This glass is as near to perfect as you will find. The case is shown in Ly-NewHaven, No. 598, and the glass is shown in Ly-Gilbert, page 39.
