Description
This is an ornate and fancy Victorian shelf clock from the era of fine clocks. 20" high walnut case is three sided and has all kinds of wood designs, etchings, carvings, applied decorations, turnings, and a rail effect on top. An advanced course in woodworking would not cover this many different wood styles. Original dial, patent pendulum with dates on the bob; original frosted glass, and cathedralgong. Polished brass dial rings, bell for alarm, and movements. Signed 8day movement strikes hours on the gong, detached alarm rings on the brassbell, running well. Over half of the paper label remains, now plastic covered.Ly-Gilbert No. 1093.
