Description

Large 8 day, Westminster Chime, movement is signed only, "Made in Germany". There are 5 hammers striking 5rod gongs, on the quarters and the hours. Clock runs fitfully, pendulum isoriginal. There is brass mesh and red clock over the back door. Stamped onthe red clock are the initials and date, "L.B. April 7, 1922". Part of back door latch is missing. 4 round, wood feet, a lot of inlay on the front. The case may have been partially cleaned before they realized the error oftheir ways, and stopped. You will need to wipe some mahogany stain on thefront of the case, and the back door, otherwise the case looks very nice.16-1/2 inch high case has a lot of style. Full front door with a large beveledglass. The silver dial is covered with etchings of flowers and squiggly lines. The numerals in all 3 dials are recessed and filled with black paint. Thereis stain, or maybe an old red paint, on parts of the dial. What is left canbe easily removed, leaving only the silver dial which would be best anyway.Subsidiary dials for slow-fast, and chime-silent. I see an hours workon the case and you may have to clean and oil the movement.
