Description

It is a really short drop. The burl mahogany case is under 14 inches. Dial is attached to the case body with 4 metal pins, similar to the English clocks with their wood pegs. The 8 day, time only, movement has brass gears in the latter style, all encased with front and back wood plates. The back comes off, cuckoo clock style. One side door, cuckoo style, and a bottom door on hinges to access the pendulum. The various case parts are all etched, "VIIII", and the back movement plate is stamped, "W and H.". There is brass inlay around the case, about 25 percent missing Metal dial has the original paint, basically good, shows some places where the fingers rubbed. A very rare early clock.
