Description

"Spring Clocks, Manufactured by William S. Johnson-New York", per the full label inside the case. A very nice early shelf clock, ca about 1850. 8 day, gong strike. The heavy brass movement is unsigned, held in the case by mounting blocks. Old glasses are still retaining most of the paint. Ripple trim around both glasses, base, and top. OG molding on the door, reverse OG molding on the sides. 17 1/2 inch mahogany veneer case is basically very good, only some minor corner nicks. Original zinc dial has had some touchup work on areas that were flaking. A pretty decent touchup job.
