Description
It has an 8 day brass movement. The running side is spring driven while the gong and cuckoo are powered by fusee. The old wood cuckoo bird is mounted on a wire. Bellows tops and pipes are the same age and are old, but surely are replacements. It cooks and gongs on the half hours and is running. Pendulum is originalThe old case is 23 1/2 inches high and 15 inches wide, has nice carvings, probably walnut. Bone hands are a match but one is darker than the other. Bone grommets in the winding arbors which we almost never see as they are too easily broken out or just lost. Numerals are probably not original as I see glue and not nails. No doubt the clock has had some restoration over the years, but generally a very nice unsigned shelf cuckoo.
