Description
The large and robust movement in this clock is an 8-day double fusee with full brass plates. The rear plate has an old scab repair (see image, lower right) that does not affect the operation. The well carved Gothic style case is absent the top trim, and one leaf tip missing, otherwise fine detail. Bellows and bird are original; hands later. Note unique latching bezel and crystal covering dial. This clock retains original retail label on rear: "Camerer, Kuss and Co., Patronized by Her Majesty, 56 New Oxford St, ... A large assortment of Curiosity and Cuckoo Clocks always on sale - Clocks wound and kept in repair by the year" The dust cover with a clean date of 23 March 1881. Height 19.5Ó $800-$1,000
