The urn is mounted to a substantial fluted base with 4 large acanthus swags, the whole mounted to a octagonal white marble plinth on an ormolu sub base and 4 turned bun feet. The 8-day time and strike movement is wound from the rear, horizontally, near the base of the clock, through two holes cast into the pediment and out of view. This is a good sized annular dial and very heavy. We sold the "sister" to this clock in Oct 2001 for $6000+. Strikes on a bell. Height 191/4Ó $8,000-$9,000
