Description

This is a fine mahogany case with brass lining, glazed door, paneled molded base on as stepped plinth, with restorations (finial is also later). The well made movement with dead beat escapement, Huygens endless rope wind, and grid pendulum, silk suspended. The convex porcelain dial is excellent, and with original pierced bass hands. The seat board mount, center seconds hand and weights are replacements (well done). The crystal has an S shaped crack that makes a shadow on the good porcelain dial. Pend bob was straightened along the bottom edge. An elegant clock that goes well with French formal furniture. Height 83Ó $7,500-$10,000
