"Atkins & Downs for George Mitchell, Bristol, Conn". 30 hour wood movement, short drop, strikes an iron bell. Beautiful old wood dial with flowers, some splits but no appreciable paint loss. Very rare hands with eagles, old weights and pendulum. Original gold leafing on the carved eagle splat, columns, and feet .Only one toe is chipped. Replaced lower glass in this 29 1/2 inch mahogany veneer case. Veneer is very good, but what is most unusual about this case are the full round columns and the apron like that on a pillar and scroll case. Door lock with ivory escutcheon and key.
