Description
"Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, CT" This is Chauncey Jerome's patent case, his only patent, with a paper date strip on the inside of the door that says, "Patented April 14, 1857, by Chauncey Jerome." The 30 hour movement is said to be by Ansonia but is unsigned. Jerome at that time was buying cases and movements actually manufactured by others. Original rosewood case, frosted glass, original painted spandrels on the upper glass, all typical Jerome. Original zinc dial, weights, and pendulum. The label is intact in the middle but mostly worn in the weight chutes. 31 1/2 inch rosewood case has flat columns and cornice. The case is very clean and has no hurts.
