Description

"S.W. Shaw, Providence, R.I.", label overpaste, Ca 1850-1856. 30 hour brass movement, gong strike. Gong not original to case. This movement is the Joseph Ives movement that many of the Bristol firms used either alone, like in this case, or with fusee and lever spring attachments. More than likely the label under the Shaw label is from a Bristol firm. 26 inch mahogany veneer case is one of the prettiest in this collection. Hardly a nick anywhere, polished to perfection. The wood dial leaves a little to be desired, great label (s), very nice glasses, period weights, pendulum and hands.
