AN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT POLYCHROME-GILT BRONZE MOUNTED ENGLISH POTTERY CLOCK GARNITURE, Late 19th century, retailer's mark for J.E. Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia, no. 10793. The circular clock face with Roman chapters and painted with a bird, within the arched polychrome metal case, flanked by dragon handles and surmounted by a Buddhistic lion, the front inset with a plaque painted with a seated Japanese lady holding a stringed instrument, on scroll feet and pierced bracket plinth; the two flask vases with similar painted decoration and branch handles - 15 1/4 in.
