Description
This is a variation of Jerome's "Union" shelf clock, made around 1844 right after he built a factory in New Haven, CT For its age the 13 inch high clock is near perfect, although probably was painted black at some time, over the mahogany or rosewood. It has a perfect label behind the lower glass, fancy paper on the backboard which was another of Jerome's added touches. Refer to Ehrhardt's Book 1, pages6-8, for similar clocks and commentary.
