Description

Beautifully figured rosewood and mahogany case with brass inlay. Clock rests on paw footed eagle base that has carved applied columns, with scroll leaf carving applied to sides of case. Top has figured mahogany pilasters, with rare carved winged griffin crest. Original reverse painted center tablet Door opens to reveal rare label of Charles Platt, clock case maker, 66 Beekman St., NY, May 1823. Case retains old finish and warm patina. Painted iron dial.
