Description

Dimensions:55" tall by 14" wide. Maker/Mfgr./Author/Artist:Unknown 19th Century Dutch clockmaker. Condition:Very good; runs well and strikes properly. Statues are later additions-as usual. Circa:1890 Materials:Painted wood case depicting Peacock and flock; brass movement; carved wood statues on hood. Description:Dutch STAARTKLOK or "tail clock", hand-painted scene on the front of the tail. The painting depicts a brood of peacocks. The clock dial has a quaint Dutch village scene (see our photograph) and a beautiful blue background with gold leaf ornamentaion and flowers.The statues on the top of the clock are carved-wood additions. The clock has an alarm mechanism which is detached.
