Description
Sarton, a Liege, 8-Day weight driven, striking skeleton clock in very good condition. Sarton was a great experimenter and many of his clocks have a remontoire for the time train, driven off the strike train. However, in this example he uses a substantial weight to power the delicate time train for a full week; in order to get adequate travel, he placed the winding barrel at the top of the movement, behind the plates, giving it a travel of over 12". The well made compensating pendulum beats half seconds and the escape wheel has 60 pins (30 on each side of the wheel), thus providing for a seconds hand that rotates once per minute. Height 21 inches
