Description

Unsigned, full size (49") banjo in generally good condition, with original movement, hands, dial, pendulum and tablets. Mr. Rappaport acquired this clock from the estate of Edwin Parkhurst, Jr (former NAWCC president) in 1992, prior to which the clock had been on display at the NAWCC museum (original letters to this effect are included). All 3 bezels are hinged with side locks. The dial has been redrilled with a second set of holes, after the wood pulled out under the original holes (yes, it would have been sensible to use longer screws). The throat and bottom door are cross veneered in mahogany as was the style for these case early on. The heavy and well made T-bridge movement has dead beat escapement and maintaining power. The brass sheathed weight provided with the clock is from a Seth Thomas no. 2, and should be replaced with something heavier. If this clock bore a signature, we could expect the price to be around $10,000. Height 49"
