Description

Memorandum clock - a charming example of Victorian ingenuity. The pendulum clock movement also drives the drum above, which has 48 slots incorporated. There are a number of ovorine tablets, onto which pencil written messages can be entered and placed in the appropriate slot. When this time arrives, the tablet is released into a shute and thence into a hinged tray. The weight of the tablet causes the tray to drop, making an electrical contact which rings a bell. The bell is stopped by taking out the tablet and reading the message. British c1890
