Description

now with a C.1850 French Morbier 2-weight movement, married to the original dial. We studied this a long time, figuring it might be a 19th Century clock, but the dial and dial plate are obviously married to this movement, and a plinth added to the case to accept the iron frame of the movement. Since this clock was in a doctor's office for the past 35 years, it appears the work was done long ago. Amazingly the workman retained the original pendulum bob, a well chased depiction of the North Wind. All of the ormolu retains original gilding and is very bright. The main case door has a single, vertical split that will need attention. The movement has not run in some time, but is complete and sound and will respond to simple cleaning. An all original floor clock of this vintage would be priceless. Height 89" Reserve $4500 Additional keywords: longcase, tallcase, grandfather
