Description
This is an early English double fusee gilt wood cartel clock. The 12" enamel dial has Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic 5 minutes markers. The clock has a rise and fall indicator, a large rectangular double fusee movement with an anchor escapement and strikes on a large heavy coil gong. The carved wood case retains much of its original water gilding. The floral leaf and pierced scroll work design has had few repairs over the years and is in great condition. English giltwood cartel clocks are one of the rarest and most desirable of English wall clocks found. The dimensions of this clock are 29 " x 21.5 " 6 ". Running duration 8 Days
