Description

A French gilt metal and porcelain late 19th century mantel clock, the gilt ormolu case with swags to the sides, acanthus cast gallery to the base raised on toupie feet, the pink porcelain panels with gilt-bordered white reserves painted with flowers, the similar dial with a scene of a troubador wooing his lady below a Roman chapter ring with turquoise jewelling and painted with a bird and butterfly amidst branches to the centre, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on a bell, circa 1880. 20" x 10" x 6"
