Description
A First Empire French gilt ormolu and bronze figural mantel clock, the finely chiselled gilt ormolu case with hand chased original mercury gilded mounts surmounted by a bronze figure of a centaur carrying off a young maiden, the dial flanked by winged maidens sitting on a fire gilded raised base plinth held by winged griffin feet, the 8-day large silk-suspension movement by "Edouard Bethet Hr" with hour and half hour strike on a bell, the white convex enamel dial with black Roman numerals and pierced gilt hands, circa 1820-30 21" x 11" x 6"
