Description

Please see Distin and Bishop, page 80, figure 156 for example that was copied. Distin attributes this to Timothy Chandler, however I have strong feelings that the original was a Quaker clock from Southern Maine. The fellow who made this was quite particular, using square nails and cast hardware. The 2-day iron plate movement with solid brass wheels is an exact replica of the original, and runs robustly with a reserve of power. The cast brass frets at top are direct copies. The well made pine case took a tumble and the door broke off and there are chips in the right side that will need attention; attractive cherry finish; Height 35.5' Additional keywords: longcase, tallcase, grandfather
