Description
in dark oak, Alt Deutsch style. This is similar to the previous lot, but in oak, and with later serial number. The dial is a nice multi color job - ivory with black numerals and red fleur-de-lis, and good original hands. There has been restoration to the case; the side stretchers that hold the top and bottom together are new (decent job), and several of the smaller trim moldings have been replaced (good but not great job; nails are evident, stain a bit dark); finial tips broken and reglued. Has a great piece of shaped and beveled plate glass in the front door (1 inch bevel). The thick glass and all the oak moldings make this a VERY heavy clock. Movement signed with "TH" trademark; running and striking but time to replace the old gut cord; also dial feet need a little tightening to align winding holes (you have to apply upward pressure on dial to insert key - minor) Weights and pendulum good; small dent in bob. An impressive clock: Alt Deutsch on a grand scale. Height 66" Reserve $1200
