Description

on attached base, with French style ormolu mounts. All authors on German clock making have pointed out that Lenzkirch, more than any other German clock firm, adopted production techniques and movement formats similar to the French. Many of their movements would be impossible to distinguish from Paris makes were it not for the Lenzkirch trademark. This little clock, in the Louis XVI style, bears serial number 563298; it has been in storage and would benefit from service, and the case has lost some of its finish. The original gold finish ormolu is still bright (casting of cupid below the dial), the porcelain dial is perfect, and clock retains original Lenzkirch key + numbered pendulum. Brass feet are slightly bent. Height (w/ base) 13" Reserve $700
