Description
The platform movement is contained in a bronze globe, and strikes the hours on a bell; has serpent hands. Mounted atop the globe are a winged cherub with a quiver of arrows at this side, and a rose wreath in his left hand. Two doves in flight are attached to the globe under the wreath; and reclining at the base is a cherub, holding a gilded frame containing a small enamel over porcelain insert. On the other side is a bust of Joan of Arc, a papyrus scroll, tools and an artists palette. Some of the gilding is worn, but it is generally excellent. The well made Japy movement ticks and strikes, but would benefit from service. A great piece of French art work. Height 14" $1750-2250
