Description

This is the earliest type of Connecticut spring banjo, actually factory conversions of pendulum gallery clocks (re-geared for long pendulum). Some may still be found with gallery labels behind the dial. The wooden bezel at top has split and been glued; other glue repairs, + corner nicks, and the dial has been screwed on in about 6 different locations and needs re-centering. Dial redone. Still tablets (with some wear) and hands are original, and this is generally a good example of this model., and with a note that it came from Wood"s Fifth Street School in New Bedford, Mass, and a newspaper article and image of the school.
