Description
A thorough discussion of these little clocks can be found in Royer-Collard's book titled Skeleton Clocks, (1969), pages 69-70. They were produced in 3 formats, time only, time and alarm, and time/alarm/calendar. They were meant to commem-orate the Great Exhibition of 1851, and several thousand were sold. This time only model has been cleaned to like new condition, and the dome is a new one from Ben Bowen. It is running and ready to enjoy; note fully engraved front plate; porcelain dial perfect. The alarm model sold in our Nov'99 auction, lot 434 for $2000+ premium. Height 9" Reserve $1100
