Description
This has a good rope front case with much original gilding intact. Inside the lower box is a label from Weston Brothers. Note James Weston had set up in the 1840s at 25 Eliot St, while the two sons were registered at 73 Harrison St after 1869. All we can be certain of is that the brothers had serviced the clock, since the hand work on the movement and the nature of the tablets place it closer to 1840. Retains original "Neptune" tablets, the lower one flaking in the sky and border area (but I would leave it); orig dial with flaking; orig hour hand; minute hand of same period, but only a fair match. Still, for what we find today, this is a nice clock; detail pictures on Internet; height 33'
