Description

white marble and ormolu, now with a Victorian movement (fits OK). Refer to Tardy's, Part II, page 264, fig 1 for similar clock that is in the Louvre. This form of clock in an obelisk case does not occur that often, and this clock can be enjoyed as-is or you might find a silk thread movement that will fit. Note also interesting cherub on top, holding a hammer and chisel, sculpting a female bust in his lap; sides of the obelisk are decorated as well. Rear two feet of base have been poorly replaced and need attention, otherwise complete and sound. Height 27" $900-1200
