Description

attributed to Frederick Wingate, Augusta, Maine. The movement in this clock is identical to the Fred. Wingate Clock at Sturbridge Village, Mass. Note similarities to Aaron Willard, Jr., arch top plates with fine wheel work. The finely cut iron hands are original; the dial surface has had chips filled in center and around winding holes; faint parts of the black are original, others were filled in by the restorer (a faithful job that left it with an aged appearance). The top tablet appears to be original and in very nice condition; the mirror is old, but has been re-sealed in place, so we assume it may be an old replacement (nice grainy look to it). Faux shell columns and gilding are wonderful. Iron weights are replacements. Runs and strikes. Height 31 inches $3750-4750
