Description
of Ives' unique design, with original scroll top and period finials. This clock came out of the Albert Partridge collection, and was restored around 40 years ago. The tablets look like they were repainted in place at the time, and have started to flake again. The worst thing that happened is the fellow thought the "smoke" finish was incorrect, so he painted the entire insides a dark green. This clock is otherwise a nice original piece, rare and with good original dial, hands, weights, veneer and figured maple trim. See same model pictured in Horology Americana, page 95, and in Distin and Bishop, page 252. We've seen these bring $4500 with original label and tablets, and this reserve reflects condition. Height, 57" Reserve $2500
