Description

An early French carriage clock in a kingwood and rosewood case c1845, with countwheel strike on a bell. The plinth and backdoor are made of dark rosewood whereas the case is made of the lighter and more marked kingwood. The movement is signed for Hy Marc ý Paris and dates from circa 1845. It is transitional in design. The rear plate has a deep recess made for the early type of platform with a sub-frame divided lift escapement, but is fitted with an early form of mono-metallic escapement which came in around this time.
